"Kuching" is the Malay word for "cat." There were several cat sculptures in the city, and this was one of the most prominent. It was in the middle of an intersection, near the waterfront Holiday Inn. Even some tourist brochures called it "kitch." (Kittchy-kats?) It was a popular place for tourists to have their photo taken, but none of us expressed that need.
